Step 1 – Make sure the massage subject has removed any clothing on the upper part of the body, so that the shoudlers and upper chest are exposed. They should be lying on their back.
Step 2 – Use some lotion or massage oil and seat yourself above and behind their head.
Step 3 – Press into the top of the shoulders with open palms. Apply pressure evenly with both palms and then apply pressure back and forth from one shoulder to the other.
Step 4 – Next apply pressure with the fingertips to the base of the neck, pulling the head gently towards you. Check in with the massage subject if the pressure feels alright for them.
Step 5 – Using the fingertips, apply circuloar movements to the sides of the neck, starting at the base of the neck and work your way all the way up.
Step 6 – Now use the thumbs to apply the circular movements while cradling the back of the neck with the fingers.
Step 7 – Turn their head to the right side. Place your left hand on their left shoulder. Place your right hand at the base of the skull and gently stretch the neck. Do the other side.
Step 8 – Repeat steps 5 and 6. Then squeeze and massage shoulders in circular motion with “pincher” fingers.
Step 9 – End the massage by repeating steps 4 and then 3.
